Clock is ticking for would-be councillors

Nominations are closing, in less than a week, for people wanting to stand for election as an Orkney Islands Councillor.

The deadline for nominations to be delivered to the council is Thursday, March 29 at 4pm.

Returning Officer for the OIC, Albert Tait, said: “The clock is ticking for prospective candidates to obtain a nomination pack and return it before the deadline. There is no leeway as far as that deadline is concerned.

“If you want to stand for election, don’t leave it to the last minute – contact the council’s elections office now to start the nomination process.”
