Community minibus fund open for applications

Orkney Islands Council is urging community transport operators to apply for funding from the new Community Minibus Fund.

The £1 million fund, from Transport Scotland, will help community transport operators buy new vehicles to expand their services or replace older vehicles. But the fund is for this financial year only, so there is only a short time to submit applications.

Laura Cromarty, OIC transport manager, said: “This investment from the Scottish Government will enable voluntary and community organisations throughout Orkney to sustain and grow their vital services and I would encourage them to take a look at applying to the fund.”
