Council assessing interest in self-build sites in the ‘Hope

Orkney Islands Council is looking for public feedback on demand for serviced building sites in St Margaret’s Hope.

The council plans to create four sites in the village, which will be available for sale to people interested in building their own homes. But if there is sufficient interest from the public, up to ten serviced sites could be provided in total.

Evelyn Mathershaw, the OIC’s head of strategic development and regeneration, said: “We would like to hear from anyone who might be interested in purchasing one of these sites as we try to gauge interest and demand before finalising how many sites to progress with.”
