It was a case of keeping it in the family in the cattle lines at the County Show in the Bignold Park, Kirkwall, today, as father and son took the Supreme Championship and Reserve titles.

Winning the top spot was the Aberdeen Angus champion, 19-month-old heifer calf, Cardona Jilt, shown by James S. Baillie & Co, Sebay, Tankerness.

Taking the reserve title was champion of the yard at the East Mainland Show last week,  the homebred, February born, Limousin-cross heifer calf, shown by Balfour Baillie, Sebay Cottage, Tankerness.

Although the weather was mild and only slightly damp in the morning, heavy downpours continued to fall throughout the day , at the largest event in the Orkney agricultural calendar.

Overall sheep champion was Texel ewe lamb shown by Ivan Scott, 3 Hill of Heddle, Finstown. Reserve  was a Beltex gimmer shown by A & V Copland , Overhouse, Harray.
