Cross the barriers for WEST

A new exhibition, featuring the work of a recent Orkney College art graduate, is to go on show at the Loft Gallery this weekend.

Sigurd Smith is the first of three to graduate through Orkney College UHI to achieve a BA (Hons) Fine Art and Textiles degree. WEST is Sigurd’s first solo exhibition and showcases work based on the artist’s recollections of the western landscape of Orkney — from using traditional methods like painting, drawing and ink, to combining them with analogue devices such as projectors and cameras, to give a new visual expression to his thoughts and ideas.

The exhibition will be held at The Loft Gallery, in St Margaret’s Hope, until June 2.
