Curtain-up for drama competition finals

Eight plays are to be performed during the final of the SCDA one-act play competition, which is set to take place over the next three nights.

Orkney’s Palace Players, with their play, Baby Sparklers, will be the final play performed, on Saturday night.

Excitement has been building, not just in Orkney, but around the whole of Scotland, for the event, which will be attended by the SCDA chairman, Gordon Hibbert, as well as long-standing patron and honorary president of the association, Richard Wilson.

The running order, at the Orkney Theatre, Kirkwall, is:

Thursday, April 23

  • Tryst Theatre — The Lockerbie Bomber.
  • Dingwall Players — The Rape of Bunny Stuntz.
  • Kirkintilloch Players — Her Slightest Touch.

Friday, April 24

  • Carnoustie Theatre Club — The Porch.
  • Plockton Drama Club — A Respectable Funeral.
  • Kirkton Players — A Trip of a Lifetime.

Saturday, April 25

  • Fintry Amateur Drama Society — The Path of True Love.
  • Palace Players — Baby Sparklers.
