Deputy First Minister heading north

As we approach the final few weeks before the September 18 referendum on Scottish Independence, Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is heading north next Thursday, August 28.

As well as campaigning in the county, Ms Sturgeon will host a question-and-answer session, in the Orkney Theatre, in the evening.

Speaking ahead of her visit, she said: “Events like the one in Orkney confirm that across the length and breadth of Scotland, people are engaging with the referendum in unprecedented numbers and want to know what a Yes vote will mean for them.

“The more people know about what we can achieve as an independent country, the more support for a Yes vote grows – as witnessed by the significant gain in support for Yes in the most recent opinion polling. That is why events like the one in Orkney are so important and I am confident that they will help to convince people across Scotland to vote Yes in September.”
