Digital forum convenes in Kirkwall

The Northern Isles Digital Forum meets in Kirkwall this morning, Saturday.

The forum, which aims to highlight the problems surrounding digital services in Orkney and Shetland, follows events in the past, at which representatives of some of the major players in the digital market were answering questions from local people.

The event, in the St Magnus Centre, Kirkwall, will be attended by Stuart Robertson, Digital Director of Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) and Graham Dunn, senior government affairs manager at Vodafone.

Mr Robertson is attending on behalf of HIE and BT, who are jointly delivering the £146 million broadband upgrade to the Highlands and Islands region and Mr Dunn will be discussing Vodafone’s 3G trials, which Orkney and Shetland have both participated in.

The meeting, in the St Magnus Centre, begins at 11.30am.
