Dounby Show delights despite wet weather

It was wet and overcast in the West Mainland today, but that didn’t deter folk from turning out in force for the Dounby Show.
Championing the cattle section was a yearling Charolais heifer from Messrs Spence of Norton in Dounby. The reserve was a Limousin-cross calf from L. Muir of Upper Onston in Stenness.
In the horses and ponies, taking the overall championship was 24-year-old Welsh Section A pony, Blackhill Luke, ridden by Charlotte Sinclair, of South Breck, Firth, and owned by Charlotte’s mum, Moira.
The reserve went to D. & S. Marwick, of Breck in Orphir, and their Clydesdale x sports horse, Belle.
Champion of the sheep section went to a Charollais ewe, Ugly Betty, from William Coghill of Newbigging, Birsay.
In the goat section Mrs K. Mainland took first and reserve, the champion a 3 1/4 boar cross female kid.
And champion dog went to Dr Simon Hall with his striking Scottish Deerhound named Breagha.
