Extra week to try OIC budget simulator
Orkney Islands Council is making an online budget simulator available for an extra week.
The budget simulator was launched earlier this month. The aim is to gather feedback from across Orkney as the council prepares for an expected reduction in Government funding over the years ahead.
So far, around 280 people have used the online tool and submitted the results to the OIC.
Chief executive Alistair Buchan said: “We are pleased with the response to date. Using the budget simulator gives you the chance to experience for yourself the many challenges we face in balancing the council’s books. The feedback provided gives us a clearer understanding of people’s priorities across our community.
“We want to ensure as many people as possible have the opportunity to try out the budget simulator and, as this is the half-term break, we have decided to make it available for a week longer than originally planned – it is now available until Monday, November 7.”
According to the OIC, the feedback received will help inform the decisions taken by councillors when they set the budget for 2017-18 and the years ahead.
