First XV face tough test on the road

Orkney Rugby Club’s First XV face one of their biggest games of the season today — an away tie to league-leaders Perthshire.

The match, due to kick-off at noon, is Orkney’s penultimate game in RBS Caledonia Regional League Division 1.

Perthshire are currently eight points clear of fourth-placed Orkney going into the game, but Orkney are one of only three teams to beat the table-toppers this season, following a 30-23 victory in Kirkwall in September.

Today’s fixture will be followed by Orkney’s season finale against Dunfermline, at Picky, next Saturday, which could prove to be a potential promotion decider.
