Food and drink award winners announced

The winners of the 2014 Orkney Food and Drink Awards were revealed at a gala event in the Pickaquoy Centre on Saturday evening.

Twenty-eight local food-and-drink business were in the running for 12 different awards, part of a re-energised and expanded Orkney Food Festival and organised by Orkney Food and Drink.

The winners were:

• Best Evening Meal – Foveran Restaurant.
• Best Lunch or High Tea – Judith Glue.
• Best Breakfast – Eastward Guest House.
• Best School Dinners – Papa Westray Primary School.
• Best Local Food Retailer – William Shearer.
• Best Marketing Initiative – Orkney Brewery.
• Best New Product – Orkney Buffalo.
• Best Meat-based Product – E. Flett Butchers.
• Best Dairy-based Product – Orkney Creamery.
• Best Bakery-based Product – W. F. M. Brown, Westray.
• Best Drink Product – Highland Park Distillery.
• Special Prize for Continued Excellence (any area) – Willows Coffee Shop.
