Hamnavoe delay reinforces need for better contingency planning — McArthur

Commenting on news that the mv Hamnavoe will not be back on the Stromness-Scrabster route today, Tuesday, as previously suggested, Orkney MSP Liam McArthur said: “This is disappointing news and risks creating further confusion for those planning to travel over the next couple of days. Hopefully this can be managed effectively, and that the vessel will indeed be back in operation later this week.

“More generally, however, lessons must now be learned for the future, particularly around contingency planning and communications with the public.

“This message was reinforced with the transport minister during his visit to Orkney last week, and I will be pressing him to make clear to people in Orkney the changes he proposes to introduce.”
