Industrial action update

The latest updates on services affected by Wednesday’s industrial action are as follows:

Orkney Health and Care Services

All Ages Disabilities Services:

The following All Age Disabilities Services will be closed:

  • St Colm’s Day Centre inc transport and catering services
  • Keelylang Day Centre
  • Glaitness Day Centre

The following services are open and operational although no transport or catering services are available on November 30:

  • Disability Resources Supported Accommodation Services
  • St Colm’s Short Breaks
  • Glaitness Short Breaks

Older Peoples services:

The following mainland day centres for Older People will be closed:

  • Gilbertson Day Centre
  • West Mainland Day Care

Emergency Out of Hours Duty Social Work Service can be contacted via the Balfour Hospital Switchboard on tel: 888000

Recreational and cultural services

The following services are closed:

  • Kirkwall Swimming Pool
  • Orkney Museum – closed

The Stromness Swimming Pool will be closed for the morning session – later session to be confirmed.

Kirkwall Library – to be confirmed

Stromness Library – to be confirmed

The Kirkwall Community Centre will open as usual

Stromness Community Council – open in evening as usual (the Centre does not normally open during the day on Wednesdays)

The St Magnus Cathedral will be open.

Other Services:

Further updates on expected disruptions to wider council services will be provided to local press and via www.orkney.gov.uk as they become available.

It is important to note that as staff are under no obligation to inform whether or not they will take part in industrial action on Wednesday, November 30, the council will not be fully aware until Wednesday morning which services may be affected.
