The Constitution Day 'tog' makes its way through Kirkwall's Albert Street.
The Constitution Day ‘Tog’ makes its way through Kirkwall’s Albert Street last year.

Tomorrow, Sunday, will see Orkney join in the annual celebrations to mark Norwegian Constitution Day.

A remembrance service at the Norwegian war graves in St Olaf Cemetery at 9.30am will be followed by a service in St Magnus Cathedral and a lunchtime concert by the cathedral choir.

The annual ‘Tog’ parade will set off from the Kirkwall pierhead at 3.30pm, before speeches are made on the kirk green by OIC convener Councillor Steven Heddle and the Norwegian guest of honour, Kristen Robertsen, from Sandnes.

Entertainment will be provided by Junior West Mainland Strathspey & Reel Society outside the cathedral and the Kirkwall City Pipe Band.

In the evening, the Orkney Norway Friendship Association will hold a dinner dance in the Stromness Hotel.
