Living Orkney shortlisted again

LOSeptLiving Orkney magazine, published by the Orkney Media Group, has been shortlisted in the 2014 Small Publishing Company category in the Scottish Magazine Awards.

The magazine was highly commended in the 2010, 2011and 2013 Scottish Magazine Awards and in 2011 its editor John Ross Scott was shortlisted in the Editor of the Year category and won the Chairman’s Prize.

Mr Scott said: “Our past year has bucked all trends with steady sales and a welcome rise of 13 per cent in our advertising revenue so this year we must stand a real chance.”

He added: “Now in its tenth year, Living Orkney has never been so popular, is thriving and fully intends to continue to thrive in the years ahead.”

The magazine over the past year has been brought together by a team of three part-time staff – Mr Scott as freelance editor, designer Carrie Norquoy and advertising representative, Karin Brown, with Lorraine Shearer co-editing on the September and October issues.

From January 2015, Lorraine will co-edit the magazine on alternate months from John.

Living Orkney is up against competition from Dee n’ Do Magazine (Burdie Creation), East Lothian Life (PJ Design), and iiShetland (Millgaet Media), with the winners announced, in Glasgow, on December 11.
