Loganair flight in Rotterdam incident

A chartered Saab 340 aircraft operated by Flybe franchise partner Loganair was at the centre of an incident at Rotterdam airport earlier this week.

The airline – whose services to Orkney and Shetland have been under the spotlight over reliability issues – confirmed that the aircraft had suffered from a hydraulic problem on Wednesday afternoon, following it rolling off the runway soon after returning to the airport to land, following a warning signal being activated just after take-off.

A Loganair spokesman said yesterday: “The captain of an aircraft operating one of our private charter services bound for Aberdeen returned to Rotterdam Airport shortly after take-off yesterday afternoon following a warning signal from the flight deck.

“The aircraft landed safely at the airport around 1635 local time where it was brought to a halt, but subsequently rolled just off the runway due to an issue with the hydraulics.

“As is standard procedure, the aircraft was met by the airport’s emergency services.

“All 17 passengers disembarked the aircraft safely, returned to the terminal by bus and a replacement service was dispatched from Glasgow to take them on to Aberdeen.”

The airline also apologised to passengers for the inconvenience they experienced.
