Mixed fortunes in Highland Amateur Cup for Kirkwall teams

There was mixed fortunes for football clubs Rovers and Thorfinn in today’s Highland Amateur Cup ties.

Thorfinn beat Western Isles side Iochdar Saints 2-0 in Alness to proceed to the quarter-finals, thanks to goals either side of half-time from DJ Moffat and Jerry McBeth.

Rovers, however, were beaten 2-1 at the Bignold Park by Thurso Acks, despite the home side dominating the majority of the match and creating a number of goalscoring opportunities.

A Steven Tulloch strike put Rovers ahead just after half-time, but two goals in quick succession from Acks won the game for the visitors.
