New director at NHS Orkney

NHS Orkney has confirmed the appointment of a new director of nursing, midwifery and allied health professionals.

Mrs Elaine Peace was formerly an associate nurse director at NHS Borders, which included the management of four community hospitals, community nursing teams and child protection.

She trained as a registered nurse, midwife and district nurse, and worked as a Macmillan specialist nurse, lead cancer nurse and then nurse consultant for cancer and palliative care in NHS Borders.

Mrs Peace said: “I am delighted and excited to be given the opportunity to lead nursing midwifery and AHP services in NHS Orkney. I have very fond memories of regular family holidays in Orkney as a child on both the Mainland and Stronsay in particular.”

Mrs Peace took up the role on December 2.
