NHS Orkney Chairman, John Ross Scott, has been appointed by the Scottish Government to serve on the national Public Health Review Group which will, over the next year, assess how best to deliver Scotland’s public health service in future.

The group’s consultation with stakeholders was completed last week and regional stakeholder engagement events are set to be staged in Glasgow, Dundee, Inverness and Edinburgh during May, with the information gathered from them allowing the new Review Group to report its first findings this summer.

As part of his role as a member of the Scottish NHS Chairs Group, Mr Scott – whose eight-year tenure with NHS Orkney ends in November – also serves on the ministerial strategic group for health and community care, the ministerial strategic group for health promoting health service and NHS Scotland’s technical advisory group for resource transfer.

He also chairs Scotland’s community health activity data project group.
