Orkney FC prepare for another pivotal North Caley League clash
After overcoming Shetland in the Jock Mackay Cup last weekend, Orkney FC return to league duty this weekend, facing second-from-bottom Alness United in another pivotal North Caledonian League clash.
League leaders Invergordon were on the wrong end of a five-goal thriller in Halkirk last weekend, meaning Orkney, who have played a game less, now have the opportunity to draw level should they win their match in hand in an exhilarating title race.
On paper, Saturday’s away match should be another three points for the islanders. Alness sit one point above Inverness Athletic, having picked up just two wins from 11 games this season. A Thorfinn Stout hat-trick, plus goals from Mark Berry and Damien Sutherland saw Orkney run out comfortable 5-2 victors in October.
The match is set to kick-off at 12.45pm, while Invergordon are in action away to Golspie with that match kicking off at 1.30pm.
