Orkney Rugby Club has been named the Orkney BT Club for February by the Scottish Rugby Union.

According to the SRU, the Orkney club, who currently lead the way in BT Caledonia Regional League Division 1, won the award for their first XV performances, their flawless discipline record and fantastic development work.

President Rodney Spence said: “Firstly, Orkney Rugby Club are delighted and very proud to have won BT Club of the Month.

“Winning this accolade is a huge reward and a thanks to all the coaching staff, volunteers, sponsors and committee members that help out every week with all our levels of rugby and the running of our club.

“Being an island based club this award also recognises the huge effort all the players have to put in to play rugby to compete at the same level as all other teams in Scotland.”

As part of their prize, Orkney receive a 12-month BT Sport subscription and £200 cash. They will also win a table of ten at the Scottish Rugby Club Awards Dinner on Friday, May 29, and will be on the shortlist for the BT Club of the Season award, to be announced at the dinner.
