Orkney Sports Awards take place tonight

One of the biggest nights in Orkney’s sporting calendar is set to take place tonight as the much-anticipated Orkney Sports Awards are due to get under way.

The awards — the first in almost a decade — have received fantastic backing from the Orkney public, with over 500 nominations received and 270 tickets snapped up for what promises to be a memorable evening celebrating Orkney’s sporting achievements and successes in 2015.

Orkney’s athletes, teams, volunteers, officials and coaches, as well as the general public, are set to pack out the Kirkwall Grammar School, all to recognise the achievements and dedication of not only Orkney’s sporting talent, but the volunteers, coaches and officials who play a vital role in the local sporting community.

The doors open at 7pm, with presentations beginning at 7.30pm.
