Orkney steals the show at Energy North Awards
Opus, EMEC and Aquatera came away with three of the nine awards at Friday night’s Energy North Awards in Inverness.
The list of award winners is as follows:
- Oil and Gas Award: Opus
- Community Award: Horshader Community Development Trust
- Onshore Renewables Award: The SEAM Centre
- Offshore Renewables Award: The European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC)
- Service Award: Esave
- Export Award: Aquatera
- Employer Engagement Award: Sureclean
- Best Newcomer: Nigg Skills Academy Class of 2012
- Ambassador: Sidney Johnstone, AMEC
Opus director of strategic operations, Glen McLellan, said: “This award from our industry peers adds to our clients’ feedback, in recognising that we not only deliver results but also continuously develop our technologies and services to stay ahead of the field. It is a particular recognition for our skilled and dedicated workforce.”
Gaynor Jones, director of business and sustainable development at Aquatera, said: “Aquatera is delighted to be winners of the best export award for the second year running.
“This year has been all about pursuing our contacts in Chile, a new market for us, and we are delighted that a number of projects have come to fruition, made possible by the fact we now have Aquatera staff based in Chile. We are proud of the fact we are the first British company active in marine renewables in Chile and are able to develop lessons learned locally to grow the sector in South America.”
