Appeal for information after woman indecently touched
Police in Kirkwall are appealing for information after an elderly man acted inappropriately towards a woman in the centre of Kirkwall, last month.
According to police, a man in his seventies approached and indecently touched a woman in the Bridge Street/Albert Street area of Kirkwall on the morning of Thursday, May 25.
Police are appealing to anyone with information which could help to get in touch.
In particular, police would like to speak to a woman who was wearing a yellow jacket and was in the area at the time, as she may have information which could assist the investigation.
DC James Sutherland said: “I would like to take this opportunity to stress that incidents of this nature are extremely rare in the area.
“Although no one was harmed in any way it would have made the female involved feel extremely uncomfortable and I would like to reassure the community that police are taking the incident very seriously.”
Police can be contacted on 101 or anonymously via crimestoppers on 0800555111.
