Regalia arrives in Scapa Flow

The semi – submersible oil industry accommodation vessel Regalia has arrived in Scapa Flow.

This new type of oil industry business for OIC Marine Services saw the vessel arrive in Orkney from the Solan Field, west of Shetland, on Friday.

The vessel is fitted with 282 single accommodation cabins, is 95 metres in length and 91 metres wide.
The accommodation vessel is owned by Prosafe, who are the world’s leading owner and operator of semi-submersible accommodation vessels, and currently have a fleet of 12 vessels of this type. The company employ around 800 employees globally.

It is understood that the vessel will stay in Scapa Flow over the winter months, and will be manned  by 40-50 personnel, during which time work to refurbish the accommodation module will take place.
In addition, the Olympic Hercules, a vessel deployed for the laying of the anchor moorings, for the Regalia, is also pictured alongside the vessel in the Flow.

Servicing the vessel for the duration of its stay is local company Green Marine, whose workboat Green Isle is pictured alongside the Regalia.
