Road closed after serious accident

Police say that the A965, between Finstown and Kirkwall,  is closed to traffic, in both directions, following a serious road traffic collision.

The two-vehicle collision is reported to have happened shortly after 5pm, close to Finstown.

Details regarding the number of casualties involved, and the extent of their injuries, are not available at present.

Diversions are being put in place and road users are asked to avoid the area and plan an alternative route, as the road is expected to be closed for some time.
