Road safety initiative targets accident hotspots
Orkney Road Safety Forum is holding a road safety and awareness initiative this weekend.
Starting tomorrow, Friday, the three-day initiative aims to reduce fatalities on the county’s roads.
Orkney area commander, chief inspector Les Donaldson said: “Orkney has a low number of collisions where road users are killed or seriously injured. However, one fatality is one too many and we are keen to reduce the number of casualties even further.
“A number of sites have been identified where collisions have occurred and we will be providing a highly visible police presence at these sites to encourage safer driving behaviour.”
