Scapa Flow artist residency
The Pier Arts Centre is seeking a visual artist, based in Orkney, to undertake a short residency working across the geographical spread of Scapa Flow and its perimeter, from Orkney Mainland and the South Isles
The residency is funded through the Scapa Flow Landscape Partnership Scheme, which aims to create a deeper and more unified understanding of the Scapa Flow landscape area.
The residency has a strong collaborative focus to it and the successful artist will be involved in researching ideas in consultation with the local community and developing new work that explores one or more of the four themes contained within the project: Landscapes of War, Landscapes of Peace, Natural Landscapes, Celebration and Communication. The artist will have the flexibility to work for a 12-week period, beginning in autumn 2011 through to spring 2012 working towards a public presentation or exhibition of the project outcomes in June 2012.
Further information about the opportunity is available from the Pier Arts Centre on 850209 or e-mail: andrew.parkinson@pierartscentre.com. Application should be submitted to the Pier Arts Centre no later than 5pm, Monday, August 29.
