St Colm’s petition taken offline
A petition in support of St Colm’s Day Centre was last night, Tuesday, closed down following the suspension of an Orkney Islands Council employee from his job with the authority.
News of the online petition being closed down by the employee came after the print version of The Orcadian, out tomorrow, went to press, which covers the launch of the petition. The paper also reports that the petition had attracted over 1200 supporters.
A consultation gets underway next week into services provided at the popular facility, with the OIC reiterating that no decision has been made on its future.
When asked about the suspension, a council spokesman said that the authority “can not comment on internal staffing matters.”
However, it is understood that it relates to the OIC social media staff policy.
