Stromness set for road maintenance works
Road maintenance works are due to be carried out on Stromness’ main street next week.
Work will take place from Alfred Street right through the town to John Street, with short sections of the road closed to all vehicles between 8.30am and 12.15pm and again between 1.15pm and 3.30pm each day.
Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the duration of the works.
Once works are completed, the areas where repairs have been done will remain covered by metal plates to protect the works until all materials have had sufficient curing time. This will take a number of days.
The closure programme is:
- Monday, June 11: John Street
- Tuesday, June 12 and Wednesday, June 13: Victoria Street (John Street to Church Road)
- Thursday, June 14: Victoria Street (Church Road to Graham Place), Graham Place and Dundas Street
- Friday, June 15: Alfred Street and south-end
Orkney Islands Council’s roads services would like to thank the public in advance for their understanding and patience while the work is carried out.
