Three Orkney sports teams recorded weekend victories against sides from the Scottish mainland.

Orkney’s Men’s volleyball team were first in action and stormed to a three sets to one victory over a young City Of Edinburgh II team, in the Scottish Cup.

Orkney FC were also playing on home soil and ran out 4-2 winners against Thurso to progress to the final of the Ness Cup.

Orkney Rugby Club’s First XV moved to the top of the BT Caledonia League Division One table courtesy of a 54-7 bonus point victory away to Ellon.
