Trial date set for March

A 20-year-old man appeared from custody on Monday charged with fighting, failing to comply with a bail order and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

Troy Oakenshield Douglas of 12 Meadow Drive, Kirkwall, pleaded not guilty to conducting himself in a disorderly manner at the Bothy Bar, Kirkwall, on December 30, by engaging in fighting and committing a breach of the peace while on bail. Douglas also pleaded not guilty to, without reasonable excuse, failing to comply with a bail order by fighting.

He did, however, admit that, on December 31, he climbed out a window at the Balfour Hospital and ran away from police officers who had taken him there for treatment following his arrest.

A trial date was fixed for March 29.
