WaterAid volunteer heading for Orkney
A volunteer for the WaterAid charity who is travelling to Orkney shortly has put out an appeal to hear from groups and organisations who may be interested in hearing a talk from her on the work of the charity.
In her working role, Donna Davidson is a team leader for utility company Scottish Water but also carries out volunteer work for WaterAid, an international charity that transforms lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation.
She said: “I am travelling to Kirkwall for a meeting on Tuesday, October 3, then a further meeting in Shetland on October 4. I am utilising my own time and additional hotel costs to arrive on October 2 at 3.30pm to make the most of the opportunity to visit schools and community groups and give a free talk on WaterAid.
“I have been donated use of a hire car thanks to Robert Bruce of Drive Orkney Car & Van Hire which I will use to travel to Dounby to undertake a talk about WaterAid to the Youth Group there.
“The following morning I am taking a day’s annual leave and so far look to be visiting Firth, Evie, and Dounby schools to talk to the children. I am trying to drum up some more talks for the Sunday evening, Monday morning and Monday night as my meeting is not until Tuesday.”
