‘Wee Pink Fergie’ makes homecoming trip to Orkney

‘The Wee Pink Fergie’ with owner Kevin Innes and his daughter Rhia at Grassy Howe, St Ola.

A very eye-catching Ferguson TE20 tractor made a homecoming visit to Orkney this week.

The tractor, which is painted bright pink in aid of breast cancer awareness and dubbed ‘The Wee Pink Fergie’, returned to the farm it was originally sold to, in St Ola, on Monday.

The owner of the vehicle, Kevin Innes, lives in Strichen, in Aberdeenshire. He first obtained the tractor around three years ago, with plans to restore it to its former glory.

However, his plans changed somewhat when his wife, Linda, was diagnosed with breast cancer. He decided the tractor would be painted bright pink and he would use it to raise money and awareness for charity.

Rewind a few years and the tractor looked to be destined for the scrap heap, having been saved from a skip by the man Kevin obtained it from. (Photo courtesy of Kevin Innes.)

Over the years, Kevin also managed to trace the history of the vehicle, finding out that the original owner was William Gaddie, at Grassy Howe, in St Ola, who bought the vehicle in 1947.

With Orkney’s annual vintage rally being held on Sunday, he thought it would be the perfect time to take The Wee Pink Fergie on a trip back to its original home, also raising over £400 for charity at the local Vintage Rally.
