A concert guitarist is set to begin a 1,000-mile musical adventure in Kirkwall, tonight.

Richard Durrant, who will be performing in St Magnus Cathedral, this Friday evening, plans to cycle from one tour stop to another all the way down the UK to his home county of Sussex.

Richard Durrant, who will be playing his own blend of original tunes alongside music by J. S. Bach, says he’s looking forward to beginning his entrepid journey, which will take three weeks and see him perform in front of ten different audiences across the country.

Orkney audiences are set to enjoy a performance from the legendary singer Tony Christie, as he graces the stage of the Orkney Theatre, Kirkwall, this Saturday night, June 2.

Plant Sale

If you’re looking to give your garden that extra touch of colour at this time of year, there will be a plant sale at Orkney College this weekend.

On Saturday and Sunday from 2pm until 4pm there will be annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees on offer. It’s all in aid of a good cause, as proceeds will go towards a new greenhouse for students with additional support needs.

 

 

Bingo Fundraiser

The Sea Cadets will be hosting a Bingo Fundraiser, this Friday night, at the Royal British Legion Kirkwall. So if you’re feeling lucky, head on down at 6.30pm for a 7pm start.

Into your history, then you might enjoy The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (12A), showing throughout the weekend.

Meanwhile, to keep the little ones entertained, the cinema is showing Mary and the Witch’s Flower (U). The Japanese anime will be in the cinema on Saturday and Sunday, with an autism friendly screening on Saturday at 3.30pm.
