Burns Suppers

It’s that time of year when we celebrate Scotland’s famous bard, Robert Burns — what a good excuse for a fine feed and a get together with friendly folk!

This weekend will see folk celebrate the poet’s birthday throughout the county with a special Burns Supper.

On Friday night, Peedie Kirk UTC, Kirkwall, will be hosting their celebratory event starting at 7pm. Tickets are available at Kairds, priced £10.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, a Burns Supper will also take place at the Rendall Hall. For further info, phone 07724411647.

There’s plenty of music on, this weekend, if you fancy a tune.

On Friday night, local fiddle player Eric Linklater will be performing at Kirkjuvagr Distillery in Kirkwall from 7.30pm till late.

Meanwhile, the Polka Dots will be entertaining from 9.30pm until 12.30am at the Royal British Legion, Stromness.

If you fancy catching a flick, this weekend, there’s a selection of films on show at The Phoenix Cinema, Kirkwall.

For little ones and grown ups alike — Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (PG) will be in the cinema on Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, the latest transformers movie capturing everyone’s hearts, Bumblebee (PG), will be screening throughout the weekend.
