‘Who Cares? Scotland’ in the isles

A national charity which advocates for the rights of children in care will visit Orkney next week to talk to local organisations about their responsibilities towards young people.

New “Corporate Parenting” legislation coming into force this year requires local authorities and associated agencies work together to meet the needs of “looked after” children and young people, including those about to leave care.

Those attending workshops and training with Who Cares? Scotland during their visit include Orkney Islands Council’s education service, the local Children’s Hearing Panel, Orkney Health and Care, NHS Orkney Board members and elected members from the council.
