Bringing some Broadway glitz to Kirkwall

KAOS's forthcoming production of 42nd Street is launched in Kirkwall tonight.
KAOS’s forthcoming production of 42nd Street is launched in Kirkwall tonight.

The Kirkwall Amateur Operatic Society (KAOS) is hosting an event tonight, Saturday, to launch its forthcoming production of 42nd Street.

The launch event, in Zio Franco’s, Victoria Street, Kirkwall, at 8pm, is open to the public and will feature 1930s themed food and live singing from the cast.

Reflecting the Broadway roots of 42nd Street, show director Lesley Macdonald said: “Just like the real Broadway shows have grand gala dinners to launch a run, we thought it fun to take some of the glitz and glamour to Victoria Street for a night.

“As the night has a 1930s’ theme, reflecting the time period of the show, everyone is encouraged to join in the fun and dress up if they want.”

KAOS’s production of 42nd Street opens to audiences at the Orkney Arts Theatre on Tuesday, February 12, running until Saturday, February 16.

Tickets are available at Nimms, Albert Street, Kirkwall and from the Orkney Arts Theatre tomorrow, Sunday, between 2pm and 5pm.
