Ba’ on the big screen at Phoenix Cinema

A documentary, partly filmed in Orkney, featuring footage of the Ba’, is showing at The Phoenix Cinema this weekend.

Bounce: How The Ball Taught The World To Play is currently screening in festivals around the world.

Saturday’s screening will be followed by a Q&A with the film’s director, Jerome Thélia, and writer/producer, John Fox, who also wrote the book that inspired the film.

Sunday’s screening will be followed by a Q&A with John Fox, who will also be signing copies of his book, The Ball: Discovering the Object of the Game, at The Orcadian Book shop on Saturday afternoon, at 3.30pm.

Over the winter of 2011/12, the film crew spent time in Orkney getting to know many of the players and capturing the Christmas and New Year’s Day Ba’s in all their glory.

Saturday’s screening starts at 1pm, while Sunday’s begins at 3pm.
