Boy treated in hospital after accident

An area of Bignold Park Road in Kirkwall remained closed for a number of hours last night, Wednesday, after an 11-year-old boy was hit by a car.

A police spokesman said that the boy suffered from “non-life threatening injuries” as a result of the incident which occurred around 7pm, and was taken to the Balfour Hospital by ambulance for treatment.

Police said that no one has been charged as a result of the incident, which they described as an accident.
