Business Gateway gets a new manager

Claire Kemp has been appointed as the new manager of Business Gateway Orkney.

Claire, who worked as an economic development officer at Orkney Islands Council for the past two years, takes over as manager today, November 2.

Claire said: “I’m delighted to take on the role of Business Gateway manager. Business Gateway Orkney has developed extensively since it opened in 2009 and I look forward to developing it further.

“I will make every effort to continue the great work of the previous manager Kirsten Nicolson, helping local businesses access the services that are currently available and building on new projects over time.”

Councillor James Stockan, chairman of the OIC’s development and infrastructure committee, said: “We are very much looking forward to Claire starting her position as the new manager. Claire is very able and forward thinking and I know that she will maintain the good reputation that Business Gateway Orkney has built.”

Prior to working at Business Gateway Orkney, Claire worked for 12 years as a lecturer in Business at Orkney College UHI and is involved in a number of volunteer organisations that work with promoting young people in business.
