By-election count under way

The count for the vacant council seat in the West Mainland ward is under way at the OIC offices in Kirkwall.

Three candidates are standing for election – Barbara Foulkes, standing as an independent candidate; Fiona Grahame, standing for the Green Party; and Rachael King standing for the Orkney Manifesto Group.

The successful candidate will join councillors Harvey Johnston, Jimmy Moar and Owen Tierney in representing the ward.

The result is expected later this morning.
