St Magnus Cathedral had a different look last night, all in the name of a good cause.

The building was illuminated the colour purple as part of the cancer charity CLAN ‘Go Purple for CLAN’ campaign, which is running this month.

Co-ordinator for CLAN Orkney, Karen Scott, said that she was delighted that Orkney Islands Council agreed to allow the iconic building to be turned purple on Sunday night, helping raise the profile of the charity, and the work that it does.

She said that she was very grateful to Ian Rushbrook from the OIC who carried out the lighting change using coloured gels over the spotlights which light up the lower part of the building.
