Council leaders take Scottish Local Politician of the Year award

The leaders of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Shetland Islands and Orkney Islands Councils have won The Herald’s Scottish Local Politician of the Year award.

Angus Campbell, Gary Robinson and Steven Heddle were listed for their work on the Our Islands Our Future campaign.

The campaign has seen the three councils join forces to press the Scottish and UK Governments for more powers before and after the Independence Referendum in September 2014.

The award was presented at a ceremony in Edinburgh last night, Thursday.
