A date has been secured for roundtable cross party talks with the Highlands and Islands MSPs who signed a letter requesting a meeting in relation on-going reliability issues with Loganair, according to David Stewart MSP.

The Highlands & Islands MSP and Scottish (Labour) Transport Spokesperson, who had written to the Transport Minister, Derek Mackay, announced today that the meeting is scheduled to take place on Thursday, December 3.

Speaking this afternoon, David Stewart  MSP said “I am glad that the Minister has seen the seriousness of the situation relating to the issues currently surrounding Flybe/Loganair and has agreed to convene a cross party meeting with the Highlands & Islands MSPs who jointly signed my letter requesting a meeting.”

“People having to use this life line service are now seriously concerned about their safety. It is vitally important that we, as a group of Highland MSPs across Parties, seek reassurances from the Chief Executive of Loganair, that all these incidents will be addressed as a matter of the utmost urgency and passenger safety will not be compromised in any way.”

“Just yesterday there was another incident at Glasgow Airport, when a Loganair flight had to make an emergency landing. It is my understanding that there were no passengers on board and the flight was a maintenance one. However, this is the fourth incident in two weeks and action needs to be taken.”
