Defeat for ORFC in BT Cup

Orkney RFC left Jedburgh empty-handed as they were dealt a comprehensive 84-25 defeat at the hands of Jed-Forest RFC in the BT Cup this afternoon. The BT National League Division 1 side had gone into the game as heavy favourites and with Orkney only being able to name sixteen players in their match-day squad, it was ultimately a comfortable victory for the Borders side.

With the game kicking off at 2pm after another marathon journey for Orkney, a lightening quick start from the home side put them 17-0 ahead after ten minutes and it was 29-6 at half time to the home side.

While Orkney fought bravely throughout the match, Jed-Forest dominated the second half, scoring several tries to increase their lead. Orkney added to the two penalties they scored in the first half by scoring three tries in the second half, making the final score 84-25.
