The meeting of the Northern Isles Digital Forum in November 2015.

The news this week that Orkney is one of six council areas in Scotland yet to achieve the superfast broadband target will undoubtedly be among the topics discussed today at the latest meeting of the Northern Isles Digital Forum.

Audit Scotland’s Superfast Broadband for Scotland progress update report ranks Orkney as third lowest in terms of coverage, ahead of Shetland (50 per cent) and the Western Isles (40 per cent).

Chaired by Liam McArthur MSP and Alistair Carmichael MP, the Digital Forum gives the public a chance to hear a number of presentations covering the challenges and ongoing work to improve broadband services and mobile phone coverage in the county.

Attending today’s meeting, in the St Magnus Centre at 1pm, are representatives of British Telecom, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and O2.
