Disruptions to services in Orkney as strike action looms
Orkney Islands Council is advising of the disruptions to services on Wednesday, as a result of the planned national industrial action.
The council expects all schools in Orkney to be closed to pupils with the exception of:
• St Andrews Primary School, which will open as normal.
• Papa Westray Primary School, for which details will be confirmed in due course.
The Papdale Halls of Residence will be open as normal to pupils.
There will be disruption to courses at Orkney College but the building will be open for private study to pupils aged over 18.
Further updates on expected disruptions to wider council services will be provided to local press and the council’s own webpage as they become available.
It is important to note that as staff are under no obligation to inform whether or not they will take part in industral action on Wednesday, November 30, the council will not be fully aware until Wednesday morning which services may be affected.
