The winners of the 2016 Young Farmers’ concert competition was the East Mainland Young Farmers Club.

The Orkney District Association of Young Farmers Clubs’ concert competition, which was held over the weekend, saw the East Mainland club come out on top for the fourth consecutive time.

The biennial competition, which was held in the Orkney Theatre, in Kirkwall, saw performances from Orkney’s three Young Farmers’ clubs — Sandwick, Harray and the East Mainland.

The East Mainland club’s production, called “Come Fly With Me”, was picked a the winner after a “unanimous” decision by this year’s three judges — Iain MacDonald, Liam Muir and Andy Cant — on following the performances on Saturday night.

The three clubs are to hold one more night of performances in Orkney Theatre, which has already sold out, with the clubs also to perform in the Tankerness Hall this Friday and the Birsay Hall on Saturday.
